The Trillion Dollar Wave

Spectrum, radio hardware, and the physical economy of artificial intelligence

Every technology wave has a physical layer that gets ignored until it becomes the bottleneck. For the internet it was fiber. For mobile it was towers and spectrum. For artificial intelligence it is power, chips and the radio links that connect everything to everything else.

The Trillion Dollar Wave is about that physical layer. It follows the move to millimeter-wave and sub-terahertz frequencies, the new spectrum that will carry satellite internet, autonomous vehicles, radar, medical sensing and applications nobody has named yet, and asks who captures the value when a new band opens. It shows why RF hardware has never had a Moore’s Law, what the four-decade scaling record actually says, and how the same scaling analysis explains where AI compute will hit its ceilings.

The argument is that the next trillion dollars in technology will be made in atoms as much as in bits, by the people and companies who understand that a great algorithm still needs an antenna, a package and a power plant. The book is written for engineers who want to understand the economics of their own field, and for investors, policymakers and executives who need to understand the engineering behind the decisions in front of them.
